Robert has recently been awarded a prestigious Marie Curie postdoctoral fellowship from the European Union. The so-called Marie Curie International Incoming Fellowships are awarded to researchers working in countries outside Europe irrespective of nationality and provide support for the scientist’s work at a European partner institution for up to two years. Several projects on development of new structural and functional bio-imaging techniques (e.g. super-resolution microscopy), optogentic techniques for ultrafast optical control of neuronal activity and circuit mapping and projects targeted towards experimental and theoretical studies of the possible relevance of quantum effects in biological systems.
